Fave Concert Workout Playlist - Part 1

To know me is to know my passion for music. Me and my iPod go together like peanut butter & jelly... warm weather and cold beers... Hall & Oates... Kid & Play... you get the picture.  A proven stress-reliever of mine is to set my Pandora on shuffle and crank up the volume.  Ok, and maybe throw in a few patented dance moves.

"Ain't gonna hurt nobody... I'm just dancin' y'all..."

When I was in junior high, my dad told me that if I spent as much time studying as I did learning the words to songs on the radio, I'd be a straight-A student.  I'm sure that was a "proud dad" moment for him.

I used to teach spin and putting together a playlist would always take WAY longer than necessary... I've been known to spend hours checking out music online (RIP WinMX). I'd start downloading random songs (that, of course, I wasn't even planning on playing in class), which would inevitably lead me to download other random songs that weren't going to be played in class... and next thing you know it's 2 hours later and I have all these great new songs in my queue and a blank spin playlist.

Even better than recorded music though... LIVE music! Since my tastes vary, so does my concert history.

My 1st three live music experiences?

  1. NKOTB
  2. Steve Miller Band
  3. Dave Matthews Band

Since then, I've actually seen close to 80 concerts.  How do I know?  Because I'm a dork I like to keep my ticket stub from each show I attend.  I have a folder full of stubs from almost every show I've seen.  Of course, that worked a lot better when I actually got tickets instead of printing them at home... but I digress.

My concert stub collection...
Probably the only place where you'll see Britney Spears next to Neil Young.

I thought it would be fun to put together this week's Music Monday playlist based on shows I've seen. Of course, I have wayyy more songs than I can fit, so expect to see a part 2 playlist soon!

MM#9 - "Concert Stub Mix, Pt. 1"

  1. Soul Coughing - "Super Bon Bon"
  2. Beck - "Beercan"
  3. Janet Jackson - "Feedback"
  4. Justin Timberlake - "SexyBack"
  5. Mos Def - "Quiet Dog"
  6. Arctic Monkeys - "Brianstorm"
  7. Pearl Jam - "Hail, Hail"
  8. Girl Talk - "Oh No"
  9. Beastie Boys - "Intergalactic"
  10. Prince - "Let's Go Crazy"
  11. Redman & Method Man - "Da Rockwilder"
  12. Santigold - "Lights Out"
  13. Jack Johnson - "Rodeo Clowns"

I'm always looking for new music to check out... what's the best concert you've ever seen??

  1. The Roots at Lincoln Center about 8 years ago. After that I'd say seeing Prince when I was in junior high school

    1. Prince was great live! I think my favorite to date was Beastie Boys about 4 years ago... One of the most fun times I've ever had at a show!
